VideoLX 3.0 in action

After Video LX 3.0 (Zoom 7.3+) has been set up as specified here, all check-ins to the Zoom repository will be screened for high-res assets.

On a Zoom Client machine that is configured for a location set up for VideoLX, whenever a video asset is checked-in, it is compared against the ingest criteria as specified here. If it meets the high-res criteria, Zoom will treat it as a high-res ingest and ingest it using the VideoLX flow configured.

Here is what happens on the Zoom Client, in the Zoom Adobe plugin, and the status of transcoding jobs displayed in the Web Management Console:

On a Zoom Client

Try to check-in a valid high-res video on a Zoom client app –  Asset Browser. The Check-in window will specify the assets as hires.

It will also present you with a choice of a drop-down with options:

Copy On Ingest:

This is the default option, the high-res video file is copied to the configured SAN/NAS third-party mount point by the desktop check-in app. After the copy, the Transcoder can create a low-res proxy for the video file.

In-Place Ingest:

If the high-res video file is already inside a third-party mount folder underneath a valid Zoom Project vault sub-folder, this option can be used to avoid copying the high-res video and trigger a transcoding process for creating the low-res proxy.

Post ingest transcoding:

Once the transcoder completes the transcoding of the low-res proxy, it will check-in the low-res proxy as a 2nd version in the Zoom MAM server. The second version over-rides the initial placeholder file that links back to the high-res video on the third party mount point (TPM):

In order to edit with the low-res proxy, it must be checked-out. This can be done within supported video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere or motion graphics tools like Adobe After Effects.

You can always work with the native high-res video using the placeholder in Zoom MAM server to search for the video via metadata and then drag-n-drop the placeholder to link with the high-res video even before the Transcoder completes the low-res proxy generation. A link icon  will show up in the Asset Browser Grid view if the placeholder thumbnail is linked with the native high-res video.

In the Zoom Adobe plugin

Check the high-res and low-res versions of linked files and even change between these resolutions from within the plugin.

On the Zoom Server

Track the transcoding jobs using the Web Management Console on the Zoom Server. Log in to the Web Management Console as an admin. Open Transcoding Monitor from under the Track & Control node under the Process Dashboard node in the Admin Menu sidebar. All transcoding jobs are displayed graphically. Select filters to narrow down your search.

Click on any box displaying the number of running, failed, completed, submitted or other jobs to open the Jobs page showing jobs filtered as per that criteria. For example, click on the Failed Jobs box to view Jobs page showing failed jobs.

Alternatively, to view the transcoding processes in detail, open Jobs page in the Track & Control node under Process Dashboard node in the Admin Menu sidebar. All transcoding processes will be listed here. Select appropriate filters to narrow the search.
